THACO INDUSTRIES DEVELOPS MECHANICAL ENGINEERING TO DEEPLY JOIN GLOBAL SUPPLY CHAINS
Over the years, Vietnam’s mechanical engineering industry has had many positive signals, starting to master design and manufacture, helping to increase the localization rate in many sectors, and contributing to the industrialization and modernization of the country. According to the Ministry of Planning and Investment, it is forecasted that by 2023, foreign direct investment (FDI) into Vietnam could reach $38 billion. Many businesses have seized this opportunity and invested, researched, absorbed and transferred technology to join the global value chain.
Determining the autonomy of an industry is from the supporting industry and opportunities from the supply chain shift in processing, mainly in mechanical processing, THACO INDUSTRIES has pioneered in investing and developing high-tech mechanical engineering. Besides, the corporation has promoted joint ventures, cooperates with partners to improve mechanical processing capacity, implements the strategy of production autonomy, and deeply joins the global supply chain.
Pioneering the development of mechanical engineering – the foundation for building an autonomous industry
Since 2003, THACO has formed a strategy to develop the mechanical industry to increase the localization rate. With the market’s demands, on December 17, 2022, THACO officially announced the establishment of Truong Hai Industrial Group (THACO INDUSTRIES), a sub-holding of THACO Group in the field of mechanics and supporting industries.
From just focusing on making mechanical components for the automobile industry to increase the localization rate, THACO INDUSTRIES has gradually mastered technology, not only processing on demand but also can research and develop (R&D) on its own, providing complete mechanical products with high technology, serving many fields: Automotive, industry, agriculture – forestry, construction and civil.
THACO INDUSTRIES’s foreign customers usually require technology diversity and package, s service to optimize logistics costs and time. Instead of ordering the processing of loose parts to self-finish products as before, most customers now order completed products with a full range of stages: design – selection of materials – cutting – processing or manufacturing – welding – painting – assembly – delivery.
To suit the domestic and export customers’ demands, from only performing roughing, punching, stamping, welding… THACO INDUSTRIES has focused on investing in modern technologies: Automatic welding robots; Fiber laser cutting machines; slitting line; zinc-electroplating line; powder coating line… Therefore, it is possible to complete many details requiring high accuracy and complexity in technique and technology, such as crane base, Liebherr crane…
In machining and manufacturing crane bases and Liebherr cranes, sub-welding is the most critical stage, requiring absolute precision. This is a premise for THACO INDUSTRIES to continue to be autonomous in the field of mechanical engineering and gradually affirm its capacity through the complete processing of complex products such as RTG cranes, joint ventures and corporates with partners to process part of STS crane; production of specialized machinery and equipment for industrial and agricultural fields.
Besides, to create products according to customers’ unique demands and be proactive in the production chain, THACO INDUSTRIES has invested in enhancing mold production capacity. With modern equipment including 5-axis CNC milling machine, hydraulic die-spotting press machine, CNC gun drilling machine, double head EDM machine, wire cutting machine,… Molds plant has self-manufactured and processed various products such as injection mold, extrusion mold, SMC mold, cold stamping mold, heat press mold, PU foam mold…
Promote investment, deeply join in the global supply chai
In the fierce competition of FDI enterprises and advances in science and technology, enterprises must expand their scale and invest in modern and automated production lines and equipment to achieve production process automation. THACO INDUSTRIES has invested in the leading mechanical center in Vietnam with the most modern technologies. The center can supply the market with about 390,000 mechanical products and molds and more than 200,000 tons of steel, steel structures, and precision mechanics each year.
To create high-technology products, meeting globalization in the new trend of the industrial revolution 4.0, THACO INDUSTRIES has started construction of a modern R&D Center with a total investment of more than $20 million, with 1,000 experienced experts and engineers. The center owns a system of specialized design software, modern machinery and equipment, focusing on testing laboratories to improve product quality.
With the strategy of mechanical production and business following a closed value chain: research & development – processing & manufacturing – installation – transfer of operation & maintenance, THACO INDUSTRIES builds the “All in one” model, providing synchronous and comprehensive solutions for R&D, production lines, machinery and equipment, mechanical products, supporting industries and product processing on a large scale serving diverse fields, meeting domestic and export market requirements.
With extensive investments in technology, focusing on R&D activities and promoting joint ventures and corporates with enterprises to produce high-quality mechanical products, THACO INDUSTRIES has penetrated many “difficult” markets, especially Europe. The Corporation has exported many products: Conveyor belts to Finland, agricultural components and equipment to Sweden, mechanical components, industrial equipment for the mining industry, civil equipment, and cranes to the US, Australia, UK.
The presence of Vietnamese-branded mechanical products in the international market has gradually affirmed the capacity, creativity and competitiveness of Vietnam’s mechanical engineering industry.
